Working with SourceSafe

I'm curious to know how people work with SourceSafe and ASP.NET project. The problem I'm having is that I cannot add any files to a project without checking the project file out. And if I have it checked out, nobody else can add files to the project. Any ideas?have the solution in one physical directory, and the project in another ... keep in mind that if you want to add resources you will have to check out the solution, then just check the solution back in after the resource is created.
